This layered professional development opportunity will focus on essential topics to empower beginning teachers in their journey as educators. During this interactive and engaging professional development, participants will gain knowledge on the science of reading, how it informs instruction, and the impact it can have on student learning and achievement. We will explore the five components of reading (phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension), and focus on equipping teachers to provide explicit, systematic, and cumulative instruction in foundational reading skills. Classroom management strategies, routines, and procedures to maximize instructional time during the literacy block will be embedded. Reflection, discussion, support, and collaboration are the building blocks of this learning opportunity. Participants will leave with inspirational learning experiences in their hearts, and instructional resources in their hands which will propel them into a great new school year.

No classes are being offered at this time for this course.
