15746: K-6: Making Number Sense Happen

We know that success with math concepts begins with strong number sense, so how do we build fluency in the elementary grades? This program will explore K-5 number sense routines that support students’ conceptual understanding and fluency. Teachers will learn research-based routines that can be integrated in their math blocks such as choral counting, number talks, and reasoning routines that emphasize math models. Come ready to learn new practices and refresh the math routines you are currently implementing. Join this program to collaborate with colleagues from across NC and learn new strategies that encourage true mathematical understanding. This program is intended for math teachers in grades K-6.

Applying to NCCAT

Who is Eligible? North Carolina certified pre-K through 12th grade teachers who are employed in North Carolina public schools, including charter schools, are eligible to attend NCCAT programs. (This may include school administrators, counselors, library media specialists, lead teachers, and mentors.)

Please check with your principal prior to applying to be sure your travel/substitute teacher costs will be covered by your school.

NCCAT Online NOTICE: As of July 1, 2022, registrants are limited to two (2) NCCAT Online courses per quarter.

What is Provided? NCCAT provides your food, lodging and programming. Teachers and/or their districts are responsible for travel and substitute teacher costs.
